Historical sources show how the Club Paolo Amato (formerly Circolo dei Civili) was statutorily apolitical and played a significant role as a centre for the formation of opinions in the Ciminna community. In the past, local social and political life took place within the premises and was the subject of discussion among the various members. The Club, in accordance with its statutory purposes, has launched a series of anthological exhibitions and editorial initiatives on the visual arts centred on Sicily, its Masters, and the issues concerning the Island and its objective historical and geographical centrality in the Mediterranean Sea. In recent times, it has been involved in the project “CIMINNACONTEMPORANEA” which includes a series of exhibitions starting from Ciminna.
Culture, by vocation of the Club, must not be episodic but reasoned and constant, without being imposed but presented to the Citizenship to stimulate interaction. The Club Members are responsible for the restoration and donation of the painting with a view of Ciminna, executed in 1868 by Santi Sganga, exhibited at the Ciminna Museum Complex. The Club has distinguished itself in recent years for the organization of the National Literary Award “Paolo Amato”, now in its Fifth Edition. The award, dedicated to the illustrious Ciminnese Paolo Amato, architect of the Palermo Senate during the Baroque period, celebrates the commitment to literature and the ethical value of creativity
