This public green space is dedicated to Paolo Amato (Ciminna, 1634 – Palermo, 1714), a priest, scholar, and one of the leading figures of the Sicilian Baroque. Through his talent and vision, he played a significant role in the development of Sicilian art and culture during the 17th century.
Paolo Amato served as Architect of the Senate of Palermo and was the author of important architectural, theatrical, and theoretical works. His legacy left a lasting mark on Sicilian culture and architecture between the 17th and 18th centuries.
Today, the public gardens are an important gathering place for the local community. With an inclusive playground and areas dedicated to relaxation and social interaction, they promote the values of hospitality, participation, and inclusion, while preserving the memory of one of Ciminna’s most distinguished citizens. “Preserving the memory of our most distinguished fellow citizens means safeguarding the history and identity of our community.”
