Every year on April 24th and 25th, the feast of San Francesco di Paola is celebrated, whose cult in Ciminna dates back to the second half of the 17th century. On the 24th, the feast begins with fireworks and solemn vespers in honor of the saint. In the evening, musical events and tastings of typical local products are organized. On April 25, the feast begins with the “alborata” (Fireworks in the morning) and the parade of the marching band along the streets and squares of the town. In the late morning, a solemn mass is celebrated inside the church dedicated to the saint and in the evening, the evocative procession of the statue takes place. On the afternoon of April 25, the traditional “ntinna” takes place, a game featuring a blindfolded knight on a donkey who must break vases, placed horizontally high up, to conquer the products contained within them. The feast ends with evening fireworks.
