The early inhabitants of Ciminna built a church dedicated to the Most Holy Trinity and established a confraternity bearing the same name.

In 1603, the church was entrusted to the Carmelite Order. The adjoining convent remained active for only fifty-seven years, as it was suppressed in 1660 by the Most Illustrious and Reverend Don Pietro Martinez, Archbishop of Palermo, due to insufficient financial resources.
