Documented in the 17th century in the manuscript of vicar forane Don Santo Gigante (Historia della miracolosa immagine del Santissimo Crocifisso di Ciminna). Tradition links it to a prodigious event in 1623 following the death of Bartolo Cajazza, seen as a sacred sign and the origin of devotion to the Holy Crucifix venerated in the Church of St. John the Baptist. Open during special religious celebrations.
